The Canadian Foundation for the Study of Infant Deaths and The Learning Commons at the University of Calgary have just completed two video programs that deal with the many complex issues surrounding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and its particularly high rate of occurrence in Aboriginal Canadians. According to statistics, SIDS occurs up to 8 times more often in First Nations babies than in babies from the rest of the population in Canada. While there is no known way to "prevent" SIDS, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome: Reducing the Risk in the Circle of Life, is designed to provide information to help reduce the risk.
